Amrita's Thoughts:

Chinatown exemplifies the convergence of old and new Singapore, with low rise pre-war shophouses juxtaposed against skyscrapers. Walking through the streets of Chinatown allows one to discover a tapestry of culture, with traditional spaces restored to their former glory. Photographing Chinatown at night posed certain technical challenges due to the low light. The omnipresent sodium street lights were threats to my images as they were prone to unwanted flaring. However, the FE 16-35mm F2.8 G Master wide-angle zoom and FE 24-70mm F2.8 G Master lenses put me at ease thanks to their flare control technology. The FE 16-35mm F2.8 G Master was superb for long exposures with each bright light source transforming into pleasing 22-point sunstars. Both lenses produced high-resolution images across the frame, even at near maximum apertures. I did not need to dial down the f-stop numbers to capture all the details I needed.

An Exploration of Street Photography

Street photography reveals the intimate details of our daily lives. Through the innocuous interactions of passers-by, there are an infinite number of stories to be told. Captured with curiosity and wonder, a microcosm of your favourite city is now artfully preserved for posterity.
