Phong Dien Floating Market is one that offers a close look into the riverside trading culture of the Mekong Valley. Located 20 km away from the city of Can Tho, it is also less popular with tourists. 

Shooting from riverside dwellings offers a bird’s eye view of the sampans – all laden with their goods. From oranges, vegetables, farming tools, the sampans had them all. Thankfully, the FE 24-70mm F2.8 G Master lens was compact and easy to handhold, making it effortless to record the frenzied trading below. The unique method of trading, called “Bẹo hang”, entailed using a long bamboo stick to hawk one’s wares. Thanks to the G Master lens’ excellent resolution and contrast, the images taken were bursting with details.
