The Swimming Shed’s discreet name belies an ethereal scenic experience that is just four stops away from Central MTR. Built in the 1960s as a permanent venue for swimmers to change, wash and store their belongings, the shed has taken on another life. Swimmers enjoy the sea from that spot in the morning while photographers vie for a good vantage point to capture the beautiful sunrise or sunset. Mounting the FE 24-70mm F2.8 G Master lens on a tripod, the famous wooden bridge was carefully included in the viewfinder. The incoming tide crashed onto the rocks and dispersed into a fine, mist of seawater into the air. Setting the Sony Alpha 7 III camera for a 30-second exposure, the G Master lens perfectly recorded an ethereal image of the wooden bridge floating in a mysterious cloud. Thanks to the extreme aspherical (XA) element of the G Master lens, the detail from corner-to-corner was astounding, making it suitable for a beautiful print.
